Making Her Own Place
tells this story of Kentuckian, Dottie Rambo, the multi-talented First Lady of Gospel, often acknowledged as the First Lady of Gospel Music. The book also contains rare photographs, a complete listing of her recordings, videos, and songbooks (through 2006); a listing of her best known songs (including the publishers); and, in this special collector’s limited edition, brand new arrangements of ten of the songs quoted in the essays.
The Country Gospel Music Association’s “Songwriter of the Century,” Dottie Rambo, was one of the most prolific and influential songwriters in any song genre, as her music encompassed almost every music style popular in American music. Ms. Rambo’s music influenced writers in the southern gospel, country gospel, soul gospel, folk gospel, contemporary gospel and traditional sacred music realms, as well as pop, country, children’s music, and other styles.

The Artist
Behold the Lamb
Bring All Your Needs to the
Altar
Destined for the Throne
For What Earthly Reason
Germs, My Invisible Dog
God Has No Certain Dwelling
Place
He Looked Beyond My Fault
And Saw My Need
He’s Already On His Way
The Holy Hills of Heaven Call
Me
Holy Spirit, Thou Art
Welcome
I Am Adopted
I Call Him Lord
I Go to the Rock
I Just Came Into His Presence
I Love the Name
I Will Glory in the Cross
I Will Lift You There
I Will Not Overshadow
If I Could Do It All Over Again
If I Were My Brother
If That Isn’t Love
I’m Gonna Leave Here
Shoutin’
In the Valley He Restoreth My
Soul
Is There Anything I Can Do
for You
It Will Pass
I’ve Been Talking to the Lord
About You
I’ve Never Been This
Homesick Before
Jesus, Thou Art Fairer to Me
The Kind Shepherd
Making My Own Place
Mama’s Teaching Angels How
to Sing
Mary Was the First One to
Carry the Gospel
The Mercy Throne
Midnight in the Middle of the
Day
Multiply
A New Dedication
Oh, Blessed Hope
Oil and the Wine
One More Valley
The Perfect Rose
The Red Scarlet Cross
Remind Me, Dear Lord
The Sandals
Sheltered in the Arms of God
The Soul of Me
The Stable Surely Housed
A Mighty King
Stand By the River
Stand Still and See His Glory
Tears Will Never Stain the
Streets of That City
Tiny
Too Much to Gain to Lose
Touch Through Me
Traveling Man
We Shall Behold Him
We’ve Weathered Storms
Before
When Is He Coming Again
Where Goes the Wind
Who’s Gonna Teach My Children’s
Wonder If Anyone Cares At All
